product description

in 1949, pro-keds became set up with the aid of keds as an athletic shoes line basically aimed toward basketball. At the start released as the “royal tread,” the primary seasoned-keds product changed into the classic royal, a canvas basketball shoe in excessive and low tops presenting a distinct red and blue strength stripe adjacent to the toe. It became worn and advocated with the aid of the minneapolis lakers, the first nba champions who received five consecutive titles in seasoned-keds. Through the years, new patterns had been brought across the categories of baseball, soccer, tennis, and track and discipline. Materials using unique surprise-absorbent help and cushioning techniques had been developed to keep tempo with the speedy improvements in footwear era. The royal became the marketplace chief in performance basketball through the ’70s, gracing the feet of famous nba stars such as willis reed, kareem abdul-jabbar, and “pistol” pete maravich. Lots of these objects are enormously prominent by way of creditors. Today, pro-keds has reissued the traditional royal canvas, the court king and the historic royal grasp basketball shoe. This shoe looks more like a classic sneaker than a typical boat shoe, which was what I was looking for. I was able to get a wide size, at a good price, which seals the deal for me. Read more

These shoes look very nice, I spent a lot of time looking for a pair to replace a similar pair of older sperry sneakers, there’s not very many available in a 11W size. However, these seem to have the top canvas much stiffer/harder than my old ones and as a result whenever you take a step in them it bends the fabric into my joint of my big toe in a painful way. If you didn’t ever need to walk in these they would be a 5 but seeing as how they cause pain when walking due to the hardness bending into the foot I may need to return them. Read more

First thing: I typically wear a size 11 (Vans, Reef, Clark’s desert boot), but that was too big in these so I went for a 10.5. Seems about right, but I probably could have went down to a 10 and been fine with it. So if you’re coming from another brand, consider going down a half size. Better yet, go to Famous Footware or some other place that carries Sperry’s and try on a similar style there. The other thing, and this shoe’s main flaw, is the stitching in the back. It protrudes enough to uncomfortably rub my heel when walking. It’s a shame because this is such a nice looking and versatile shoe! I’ve placed a piece of duct tape over the area to smooth it out, but that’s not something you should have to do. As a result, it’s not something I would purchase again thus the 2/5 star review. I love this shoe. It is good looking, fits comfortably, and it is warmer than most of my shoes. I am a women and I have wide feet so I ordered one size smaller than I usually wear. It looks just as nice on women as it does on men. My family get togethers will be held outside this fall and winter and I will have warm comfortable feet in these shoes. That being said, it was 80 degrees here a few days ago and they were fine. Update: it is now February. I continue to enjoy wearing these shoes. I find that the soles cushion my arthritic knee and I am able to walk more comfortably. This is especially important when I shop in large stores with cement floors. So comfortable, I bought a second pair to wear in warm weather. Well, here I am again. I have purchased a third pair of these comfortable shoes. I now have the navy and the green corduroy ones. I’ve been wearing mostly Sperry Topsider shoes for years and years. Including this model, that can be worn with our without laces. The quality of construction is declining precipitously from Sperry, especially on these non “boat” shoes. The sole has separated from these shoes with only light wear. I’ve asked Sperry (the parent company being Wolverine Worldwide, a shoe conglomerate) to replace them. The bigger issue is that Sperry is eliminating most shoes in “wide” widths. I cannot find this Halyard model in any wide width anymore, except NOS from some wholesalers. I don’t know what’s gone wrong with Sperry who have in the past been very good at making wide E-width shoes available. Boo. Read more

The blue stripes inside these shoes bled all over my new socks, ruining them! See attached photo. If you look carefully, you can even see the blue stripe pattern transferred to the socks. Two different leading stain removers and multiple washes were not able to completely remove all that blue dye from my new socks. Very disappointing. I know what you’re probably thinking, but it was a cold day, my feet weren’t sweaty, I only wore the shoes for 4 hours, and I was even sitting down most of the time having dinner and drinks. Clearly, Sperry used the wrong type of dye for the blue stripes – it isn’t colorfast and does not belong on the insides of shoes. I’m not sure if every color variation of these shoes has this problem, but the ones I had purchased were “Sperry Men’s Halyard Sneaker Canvas Red”. This is especially disappointing since I really like the look and feel of these shoes, and would have given them 5 stars if they didn’t bleed all over my socks. Read more

I usually wear a 13, BUT I am closer to a 12 wide. It is a crap shoot to find shoes that are in that perfect zone where my toes are not cramped, but they are not tight on the foot. These were a little tight but the length was perfect. Very comfortable. I removed the laces and treat them as slipons and I could not be happier. Will buy another pair when these wear out. Love the shoe. Read more

Loved the size and shape and everything but the color is not as advertized. Take the color in the photo, add a slight blue hue, and darken it a little. That’s how this shoe’s color looked to me. The picture shows it as a heather gray, and I do not think it looks gray at all, even in direct sunlight. Just beware.f Read more
