product description

the gel-project five affords outstanding fit and everyday comfort, with rearfoot gel cushioning and a rugged outsole ideal for an expansion of terrains. In 1949, mr. Kihachiro onitsuka began his athletic shoes company (onitsuka co., ltd.) by way of production basketball footwear out of his residing room in kobe, japan. He selected the name asics for his enterprise in 1977, based on a well-known latin phrase “anima sana in corpore sano,” which, whilst translated, expresses the historical ideal of “a legitimate mind in a sound body.” taking the acronym of this word, asics was based at the belief that the first-rate manner to create a healthy and satisfied life-style is to sell overall health and fitness. These days, asics offers a full line of performance-pushed athletic shoes and technical lively sports activities garb and add-ons committed to bringing harmony to the frame and soul.

So far the only shoes I’ve found that are comfortable on my large and wide feet (with narrow ankles).I wear them for working out, walking, and everyday usage. They are good in summer and winter too. Normally I have to go with extra-wide, but with these shoes the normal widths (D) are comfortable – you’ve just got to wear them a day or two to break them in and then they are GREAT.That’s my experience, but I guess everybody’s feet are different. Not everybody has wide, hard-to-please feet like mine.Read more

The toe portion of the shoe is already coming off. Not just on one, but both. I expected better from Asics.Read more

I’ve worn the same pair of Asics Gel Nimbus 11 (discontinued) shoes for walking and casual use since 2011. (And no dry rot yet!) I adore them. They’re still incredibly comfortable for walking long distance and fit perfectly, despite the fact that I have a high arch and slightly wide (E) feet.I looked at various Asics shoes on Amazon and chose the Gel Venture 5 to replace the aging Gel Nimbus pair. They’re comfortable and cushiony. Over a period of a couple weeks I’ve worn them on several four-mile walks, and also worn them all day at the office on several days, and they’re very comfortable. I don’t run (road or trail) so just need them for long-distance walking occasionally and general casual wear. They should do the trick. One note about the width and size: compared with the pair I’m still wearing from 2012, the Gel Venture 5 are slightly narrower but still quite comfortable for my slightly wide (E) feet. The toe box is fine for me, and they’re comfortable even given my high arch. Order a half size above what you normally wear. If you have feet wider than an E you should probably try on a pair before buying; I believe if my feet were wider these would be less comfortable.Read more

I delayed writing this so I could get a good adjustment, break in period so I can give a proper review. I spend 8-10 hours per week in the gym doing HIIT, cardio, erg, bike, elliptical and a lot of treadmill work and use these peds exclusively for the gym. I am very happy with these shoes as they provide excellent support and ‘ride’. The arch support requires a custom insert for me but I’d probably need it regardless. I have a history of plantar faciitis and Achilles strains and so far, these shoes are really coming through for me. I’m afraid the next alternative to these would be a pair of Brooks at twice the price, at least. I took a risk on these and trusted the 11K+ reviewers and am glad I did.Read more

Not sure how these are getting the 5 star rating. First off I have been a 9.5 in shoe size my whole life. A 9.5 in these was way too small. A size 10 fit better but still a little tight. I put the size 10 next to my old 9.5 Nike that fit perfect to show you. Not only that these shoes seem to be made for a long feminine foot instead of the wide manly feet us guys have. Again go compare the pic to my Nike. Last it’s nowhere near as comfortable as they claim and I don’t even notice the gel. The only really good thing about these was the price. Overall I’m probably not going to buy them again and stick with the Nike brandRead more

I have been wearing these shoes for a while now. They fit me well and are comfortable and I like the colors they come in, as there are many to choose from. I have a disability and have problems walking, as such, these are the only shoes that work well for me to maintain balance and stability especially when they are new out of box. As I walk the wear down (to be expected) but even after that, they are still awesome! They also last me longer than other shoes I have tried which is nice. If you want great shoes, try these, they fit well and are true to size. Highly recommended!!!Read more

I’m a healthcare professional working 12+hour shifts in a BUSY emergency department. I also have terrible plantar fasciitis—had my left foot surgically repaired. These are the first pair of shoes I’ve had since returning to work after surgery & im really liking them so far. Had them for about 6 weeks now. Wear them 3-5 days a week & I throw out my shoes about every 3 months or so. I’m 5’10” & weigh about 245.Read more

Since I was a teenager, I’ve been using these shoes. Perfect for Road running, Trail running, AND an everyday shoe. I use it as my go-to shoe for everything. And usually they last a good few years with constant use. (I’m NO Marathoner, just 5ks/10ks, and everyday wear) I’m sure if you run Marathons, you might want a road specific running shoe, (these are purebred trail shoes, and the second you put them on, you’ll know) but otherwise, you’ll fall in love with these. Great traction on the trails! Throughout the years, it has prevented a lot of bad falls and ankle twists…Read more
