Agree with some of the other reviewers that the sizes tend to run larger than you would expect. I’m a 34×32 and the Medium was the best fit at the waist; fits even with several layers of wool leggings underneath. However, in terms of length found them to be about an inch shorter than I would like (this obviously depends on how tall you are). Also, they are quite baggy, which can make maneuvering in them a bit awkward, particularly, for example, if you are wearing crampons.I have taken these pants on two weeklong backpacking and ice climbing trips with heavy wind and snow and near-zero temps, as well as a few times skiing. I wear them over a pair or two of leggings and have found them to be plenty warm, windproof, and waterproof. However, the workmanship is questionable for this kind of activity; the stitching has come undone in various places. See picture — there’s a hole right in the seat of the pants, and the velcro for the pocket is coming undone, which I think is unacceptable for the amount that I have used them.As a result, I would not buy them again. I could see them holding up fine for light activities — shoveling a driveway, riding a snowmobile, that sort of thing — but I would not recommend them as a go-to pant for a more serious foray outdoors.Read more

these are NOT snowboarding pants. they are hiking pants for cold/wet weather. perhaps it was my mistake. they could be used for snowboarding/skiing but they are missing key features necessary for a skiing pants like a powder skirt around the ankle.Read more

Columbia should be ashamed to put their name on these. While I fully realize these are a chunk cheaper than typical Columbia snow pants, the material and build quality is right in line with something of this price point….maybe even a touch below. I ordered a <$30 pair of "Arctix" snow pants, but then found these, so I ordered them too figuring I'd return whichever is worse (obviously the generic no-name brand). But heck. In terms of material thickness and durable feel, the Arctix is the clear winner. The Arctix was also a few bucks cheaper too. NO, this is not an ad for Arctix. lol These pants are warm and not complete garbage. But they, in no way, live up to the Columbia brand name that I've grown up on. The cut is indeed weird and the ankle area is overly huge. WAY larger than you'd need to fit over any ski boot. The pictures Amazon has posted are pretty misleading in that regard. Sizing is true to what it says. Large is 36-39. I'm right at 35" and wear a 36" comfortably. The Large is borderline too large for me. For real activities, I'd want a belt. Am I really about to return a pair of Columbia in favor of a no-name brand?!?! 3 stars only because of the cheap price.Read more

I bought these pants knowing that colombia gear is very dependable and well made. That is not the case with these pants. After using them for one day at the end of the day had two sizable rips in the legs from getting caught on branches. This was because of the inferior cheap materials that the pants are made of. Only reason I am giving three stars in because they were warm water repellent and functioned well. Just don’t expect much hard use out of them. Returned without a problem though.Read more

I ordered these pants in February and didn’t tried them until now. There are 2 major things I don’t like about them: they don’t have the elastic coverings to go over the ski boots and they don’t have zippers at the pockets. I doubt these pants are original, Columbia usually has better quality.Read more

  6. Momtotwoimps

I am disappointed in these snow pants. Being that they are made by a brand like Columbia I expected all the full features that are found in other snow pants. These pants do not have an inner gator to prevent snow from getting in. The waist is slightly adjustable but was loose and my son will still need to wear a belt with them. I do not recommend them for skiing or snowboarding, which is how they were described when I purchased them. Now they are listed as insulated snow gun pants–whatever that is.Read more

Couldn’t believe how well they fit. i am 6 feet 2 inches, 36 waist and 32 length. Fits perfect. Kept me very warm on a winter trip to Iceland. Did snowshoeing, horse-back riding and hiking…no activities where the material risked ripping or rubbing. Kept me dry too…lots of rain and snow melt.Unbelievable value! I can’t imagine how a $400 pair from other companies would be better.Read more

Warm and very water resistant. The pants are very long though. I am 6′ and the large size drags the ground over my boots. They stayed dry when walking behind a waterfall and the exterior dried off quickly.Really hate the long length though. Wish they were 3″-4″ shorter.Read more
