I have had a pair of Columbia winter type boots for over 10 years. So when I decided to up my hiking game to something a little more trail worthy than tennis shoes, I spent time looking at many boots and brands, but decided on the Columbia Crestwoods based on the reliability of my other boots. I read a lot of the reviews and decided to go a 1/2 size up and I’m glad I did. I have normal/ narrow feet and when I tried them on for the first time I was a little worried how tight the toe box seemed. I wore them for an hour around the office and took them right up to the mountain for 5 days of camping and walking/hiking moderate to technical rocky, steep trails chasing elk and these boots were fantastic! Very comfortable with really no break in period. The laces tighten up in all the right places and while they are only a mid boot, they do provide pretty good support for the ankle. The traction is amazing. I didn’t walk through any water, just some soggy wallows and very shallow wet areas, so I can’t speak for waterproof/water resistant claim of the manufacturer, but I do spray every pair of shoes/boots with waterproofing from day one, it’s just what I do. I plan on updating this review next year to see how they are holding up, but in the short time I’ve had them they are fantastic and I recommend them to anyone looking for a great hiking boot for a great price.Read more

I had to reorder a half size larger when I exchanged them, but that was likely more me than these shoes. I wear Skechers and I’m used to Relaxed Fit shoes and I was looking for a like feel in theses hiking shoes. The half size larger was perfect. I gave them my best workout on Saturday and Sunday this past week, setting up a large 3-D archery shoot on Saturday, attending the shoot and taking the animals back down on Sunday evening. Most all of the time was spent standing, very little sitting, 4 1/2 hours Saturday, 8 hours Sunday. They wore very well with no foot pain and no crowding my feet. I would highly recommend Columbia Chrestwood Hiking Boots to anyone looking for a comfortable, extended period of walking/hiking boot…Read more

-They are NOT waterproof, as advertised.-They will develop an odor.I work commercial construction. I have a pair of Danner leather boots and less expensive Coleman leather boots. I was looking for something lighter and cooler for the summer. I’ve worn these boots at the job site approx 3 weeks. The boots were “water resistant” the first few days. Now, water passes through both boots as quickly as it would a napkin.Unlike either of my leather boots, these boots smell bad.Unlike either of my leather boots, these boots are losing their shape. My leather boots will usually last 6-9 months. At the current rate of decline I expect these boots to be last appoximately 2-6 more months.Lastly, these boots are actually HOTTER than my leather work boots, which surprised me. I think the reason is this: these boots are form-fitting. There is very little room for air pockets around the foot, which seems like it would be a good thing, but . . . with my leather boots those air pockets actually pump air in and out as I walk. These boots . . . not so much.To be fair, these boots are designed for light hiking. And they are actually comfortable. But they’re still not waterproof, are prone to odor and seem to be losing their shape pretty quickly for a name brand like Columbia.Read more

I live these. Best money I’ve spent on boots. I’ve worn them several times shooting and have been pretty hard on them. The are EXTREMELY comfortable and required very little (none really) break in time. I wore them around the house for about 8 hours to make sure they fit well and were comfortable and they barely fatigued my feet at all. These are well worth the money and a lot more comfortable than the Merrel’s I’ve tried which have a much higher arch and less cushion. If I can catch them on sale again I will definitely get a second pair. Highly recommended.Read more

I bought these not so much for hiking but for daily wear when I work in my yard. I admit that they seem pretty tough and suitable for hiking but I don’t do much of that nowadays anyway. But as a daily wear pair of shoes, I can say that it suits just fine. Since it was meant for hiking for rough terrain, daily walking around the yard in these seems a little hard on the soles and sides. Maybe a cushion insert may help but I bought my exact size, which fits perfect, a cushion sole may make it too tight so I did not try that. I like it for yard work because when it rains I don’t have to worry about getting water into my shoes which happens most times with regular sneakers.I like them very much for the quality and practicality.Read more

I’ve been buying Columbia for the last 30 years. Used to be top shelf. Supposed to be waterproof, NOT!!!. water resistant maybe but definitely not waterproof. After less than than 2 months the upper is already starting to separate from the sole NOT HAPPY!!!! Will think twice about buying another product from Coluimbia. It’s too bad.Read more

These shoes fit very well when first putting them on, but require a break-in period before taking for longer hikes. My feet have stayed dry in lighter weather but they are not completely waterproof for sustained storms, puddle stepping or creek walking. They fit like a basketball hightop shoe and provide good ankle support. I also feel like the shoelaces are good quality. This is an affordable day hiking show and will get the job done. Make sure to wear them on shorter walks at first as they become more comfortable the more miles on them. I really like them and for dryer hiking these are my favorites as they feel lighter than the bulky leather boots you find in this category of shoe.Read more

Finally got a pair that fit! It only took me one try after I returned the first pair I got. I took the advise of other Amazon customers and got a half size up and in wide. This should likely work for you too, as the shoes are a bit small and narrow when you order it in your usual size. I hope this helps! Anyways the shoes are super comfortable, can’t wait to take them out into the field!Read more
