When I purchased this, online reviews were only available for the lace-up version of this boot. (I only found one review on another site for the slip version, and it didn’t answer any of my questions.) I was very excited to see that there was a slip-on version, as I will be very pregnant this winter and want to avoid tying any shoes. I received the boots today and am very pleased with them. What you should know is that the performance info and advice for the lace-up version are the same for the slip version. In summary: Like the lace-up boots, the slip boots are waterproof and are made to be used in temperatures as low as -25 degrees Fahrenheit and -32 degrees Celsius. Also, most people who reviewed the lace-up version recommended ordering a half size up; I followed this advice and the boots fit perfectly.I live in the Boston area, and last year I didn’t have good winter boots. I’ve been on a quest since then to find a boot that will keep my feet warm and dry in below-freezing temps, look good, and not break the bank. So far the Ice Maiden II looks like it might be the ONE. I’m looking forward to seeing how these boots perform this winter, and I will try to remember to update this review when winter is over. :)UPDATE:I walked around outside in these boots in 5 inches of snow for about three hours today. My feet stayed warm with only one pair of wool socks on, and stayed completely dry.Read more

First time wearing them! First thing I noticed was how well made the boots are. The boot has a very sturdy bottom. When walking on ice they have a very good grip. The shoe also has a very comfortable sole, which Is some times hard to find in a snow boot. I read recent reviews saying you should get a half size up, I agree. I usually wear a 5 but got a 5.5 and they fit perfect (even with thick socks)!Read more

I love these boots, with a couple of caveats. They are really warm, which is good, as it’s been close to zero degrees here for weeks, so my feet are happy about that (although they’d undoubtedly be too warm to wear inside for an entire day). The biggest bummer is that they do not have any arch support, and that truly sucks. However, the foot bed is firmly padded, so it’s not complete murder to walk on, plus it keeps the foot warm- it just doesn’t make it comfy to wear all day or walk long distances without fatigue. So far, the inside padding has not smushed down, so I would say listen to the other reviews and go ahead and order 1/2 size larger than usual if you want to wear a heavier weight sock. FWIW, I usually wear between an 8 1/2 and a 9, and I got a 9 1/2 in these boots and do not feel they are too big at all. I have had no problem tucking in jeans or pants (I don’t think you could wear these with pants over them- they’d be too bulky to fit), though I do not feel that they are overly loose around the calf (and I have really muscular calves).I’m not wild about the dip down at the back of the shaft, because that’s where slush splashes up when you walk, but other than discolored legs a few times, it hasn’t been a deal breaker; also, because of that very design element, they do look okay with skirts and dresses, and probably accommodate a wider range of calf sizes.Read more

These boots are really comfortable, have great traction (which was very important to me), are lightweight and so far waterproof. I’ve only used them 3 times. The only con for me is they’re a bit tough to pull on, but once my foot is in, it’s very comfortable. I don’t want to take them off. I’ve never said that about a boot before!Read more

I would have to start off saying that you do need to order a 1/2 size bigger than what you normally wear (at least I did). When you first put them on they may feel a little tight across the top of your foot, but after wearing them around the house for a little bit (I didn’t want to get them dirty in case I needed to return), they did loosen up, as I would expect, and now fit comfortably. Since they have no zipper, it is a little harder to take off, but not enough to discourage you from purchasing. Now that I have worn them for month since my first post, I’d like to update my post. The another downfault is that they are they are also hard to get on. Your foot ,or mine at least, doesn’t easily slip into the boot. They should of put a pull tab in the back to grab on & pull your foot down. If I had to do it again, I would buy with a zipper, lace or velcro off some kind. They are warm and waterproof though.Read more

After determining that my first choice of lightweight-but-warm snow boot with good traction was unavailable in my size on every site, I decided, based on reviews, to try this boot. It is everything I wanted. The recommendation to buy one size larger than usual size was spot-on. For serious cold and snow, I’d been wearing my “ancient” original LL Bean boots (with the old felt liners and waterproof bottoms) for over 20 years. They are still perfectly serviceable–but very heavy–and I wanted something lightweight and more flexible, like a sneaker, in which to walk the dog–YET with as much traction as possible without Yak Tracs. (I learned the value of good traction after falling on ice a few years ago and breaking my ankle.)These are so easy to pull on–wide enough at the top to tuck in heavy exercise tights, but still slim enough to get a wider, thicker snow pant leg over. The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is the styling; I’d wanted something a bit more fashion-forward, like a motorcycle boot look, but at least these have clean lines, and could even be worn with a skirt and tights without looking clunky. Very Happy with these.Read more
